Present
The Great Halloween Pumpkin Journey

APL is pleased to support the 10th Annual PTA Pumpkin Patch & Sale for the Singapore American School (SAS). This event has grown into a week-long celebration for SAS students and culminates with the sale of Halloween Pumpkins, Gourds and Indian Corn. The proceeds from this event provide much needed funds to local Singapore charities. In fact, sales of Pumpkins raised more than $20,000 in 2008, a number we hope to surpass in 2009.

This year, the Pumpkins will arrive at the SAS on Oct. 17 and will be available for sale to SAS families and friends on Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Middle School padded playground. Click here to download the Pumpkin Sale flyer.

APL will be providing regular updates as the Pumpkins sail across the Pacific from California to Singapore. In addition to updates, you can download interesting facts and Pumpkin-related activities from this site.

If you have questions about the SAS Pumpkin Patch & Sale, please e-mail the SAS at Communication@sas.edu.sg

Our Halloween Pumpkins were planted on a farm in Half Moon Bay, California in late summer to ensure they would be ready for the PTA Pumpkin Patch & Sale in October. The 2009 Halloween Pumpkin harvest starts in September and continues until October. Here are our Pumpkins being picked from the farm. Here, the Pumpkins are being loaded onto refrigerated APL shipping containers before trucking to the Port of Oakland. The Pumpkins were loaded onto the APL Jade at the Port of Oakland in California. From Oakland, the Pumpkins will travel to Chiwan, China, where they will be transferred to the APL Poland before starting the final leg of the trip to Singapore. Here is the APL Jade just before arrival in Singapore with the SAS Halloween pumpkins. Once the ship docks, the pumpkins will be unloaded and delivered to the school for the PTA Pumpkin Patch and Sale.Today, our Pumpkins arrived in Singapore. After inspection and clearance by Singaporean Customs, the 40 foot ocean container was unloaded and the pumpkins were taken to the SAS for unloading and set up of the PTA Pumpkin Patch and Sale.
