New regulations on control of Dangerous Goods Operation at Shanghai Port during the Olympic season

Dear Valued Customer,
As a measure to strengthen security and safeguard against terrorism, the Shanghai Port Administration Bureau has issued Circular Number (2008) 177 stipulating the following:
From July 18, 2008 to August 25, 2008 – the port will suspend processing of the application for movement of selected dangerous goods, which include explosive materials (fireworks & fire crackers), organic peroxide, toxic chemicals, radioactive goods, hydrogen peroxide, acetone, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid and ammonium nitrate.
From July 20, 2008 to August 31, 2008 – the port will suspend cargo handling operation of the above dangerous goods.
The Shanghai Port Administration Bureau will only consider any exceptions under special circumstances.
If you are involved with the import or export of dangerous goods ex Shanghai during the above mentioned period, we strongly encourage you to take the restrictions into consideration when arranging your transport needs.
