Rail Shipments to/from Midwest - Update #2

18 June 2008

APL Valued Customer,

We recently advised of the Union Pacific Railroad embargo on shipments moving to or from Chicago due to the extreme weather conditions experienced in the US Midwest this month. APL has been working with the Union Pacific to ensure your shipments are prioritized once the area is safe for rail movement. While the UP embargo is still in effect, limited cargo movement has begun through the affected area.

As additional rail line capacity is put into service, you can expect to see additional cargo movement in this lane. However, given the restrictions still in place and the backlog of shipments needing to move via the rail line, you should anticipate delays of 72 hours for both import and export cargo movements to, from or through the Midwest for the remainder of the week.

Please check www.apl.com, Customer Advisories for further updates on the situation. As specific container transit information becomes available, it will also be available on www.apl.com in the Tracking section.
