Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Overview
Nationwide compliance for the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program requires that all licensed or documented mariners and individuals requiring unescorted access to MTSA regulated vessels and facilities obtain a TWIC. TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric credential.
The program is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and
United States Coast Guard (USCG). Currently more than 1 million individuals nationwide have obtained a TWIC.
APL has been selected to be the only terminal operator in the Port of Los Angeles to participate in the TWIC Reader Pilot Program. APL's role in this pilot program is to ensure that trade is not adversely effected.
